2015 Summer Programming

The Myaamia Center is involved in several programs throughout every summer, and 2015 is our busiest yet. Be sure to read more about what we’re involved in, and we hope to see you at an event!

June 1 – 12 National Breath of Life
The Myaamia Center and Recovering Voices partnered to run the National Breath of Life workshop from June 1-12. The program is bringing 29 community researchers representing 14 languages communities to Washington, D.C. to learn revitalization skills and look for materials in national archives. 14 Linguistic Partners also attend to assist, along with several staff.

June 15 – 19 eewansaapita noošonke siipionki
Our annual youth program in Miami, Oklahoma for Myaamia youth.  Myaamia Center staff are involved in organizing and executing this Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Cultural Resources Office program.  This year’s theme is Ašiihkiwi neehi Kiišikwi – Myaamia Earth and Sky.

June 24-27 Ribbonwork Workshop and Art Exhibit at Annual Gathering
The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s Annual Gathering in Miami, OK.  Many community events are held, as well as governmental elections.  The Myaamia Center is sponsoring a ribbonwork workshop for tribal members and their spouses. Register here! The workshop will be on Friday June 26.

Staff will also be involved in the “kiiloona myaamiaki eewiyawikiaki – We are Myaamia Artists,” an exhibit held at the Coleman Theater on Thursday, June 25.  Keep an eye on the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s webpage for an event schedule!

July 13 – 17 eewansaapita kiihkayonki
Our annual youth program in Fort Wayne, Indiana for Myaamia youth.  Myaamia Center staff are involved in organizing and executing this Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Cultural Resources Office program.  This year’s theme is Ašiihkiwi neehi Kiišikwi – Myaamia Earth and Sky.

July 18 Ribbonwork Workshop in Fort Wayne, IN
The Myaamia Center is sponsoring a ribbonwork workshop for tribal members and their spouses. Register here! The workshop will be on Saturday, July 18.
